Boy Says He Put Some -in Glass of Beer and the Man Who Dr^nk It Died.
NEW YORK, Dec. 0.—Bromo seltzer is figuring' again In a mysterious New York death identical tn some respects to that of Mrs Katherine J. Adams. Last night the police arrested Joseph Westphal, the 14-year-old office boy of George H. Leyh, who fell dead a week ago after drinkin.tr part of a glass o£ beer. The boy has Confessed to taking a poeketbook with ?2i.08 in it from the dead man. .j
Young Westphal's version of the'death is that Leyh was drunk on the day in question, find he, wiRhing to sober him up, *rot some bromo seltzer and dumped it into the old man's beer glass. Leyh at that time was in the cellar after another bottle of beer.
When Lc-yh returned he poured some of the beer out of the bottle, with bromo seltzer, and shortly afterward became ill TOd died. Younff Westphal denies any intention to murder his employers.
With the money ha secured, Westphal purchased a bicycle. The police are inclined to believe some of the boy's story is a fabrication, inasmuch as he seemed to have ajl abnormal interest in the Molineux case.
No formal charge of murder has been placed against Westphal, the police believing that now he 18 locked up he will tell more about the death.
