PR'&G'RESSi^G NiCElY
Meeting Will Soon Be Called To Dispose of the Three Franchises Which Remain.
President George W. Bement of tlic Evttnsville base lin.ll assoeifition was in the city today nlul for all. hour or mote was ri consultation with President L. D. Smith of the local association iii regard to affairs of the new Central base ball league. 1 Mr. Bement was just returned from
Wheeling W. Va., where he went in the interest of the new league. Wheeling is one Of the cities after the.remaining three franchises of the circuit and. as it is one of the best ball towns in the eastern part of the proposed circuit it is probable that Wheeling will receive a franchise. Sheriff W. W. Erwin is at the head of base ball affairs at Wheeling and says -thrit-n. good team can play to between 4.000 and 5,000 people on Sunday and about 1,000 every Satuday. Tliev are jipt .making any bids with otljor leagues and it is thought Wheeling will come into the Central circuit.
What other cities will be given franchises is hard to tell. Mr. Bement did not visit any towfts fexco.pt Wheeling •kit sa^-s the olift rices for Bpiingfield, O., and Covington. Ky., are good. Davis the former Washington (lnd.) bank eitsliier who is serving a. sentence for appropriating funds belonging to the bank, has become a valued assistant in the office of the prison uniform and strangers would not for a moment suspect that he is a convict. His knowledge of bookkeepng caused him to be pelected for the place and lie has about every privilege ft prisoner ciln have except lberty. He has more confident.ial relations with the officers of •tlie prison than had "Johnny" Johnson, the Logarisport bank wrecker.
Davis loks well, and is as neatly dressed as when he flourslied in Washsociety arid lost a thousand dollars oh the sligle throw of Hit1 dice. The officers of the prison speak in high terms of him. find shy that he is in every respect n. model prisoner, andj his work saves the insttution considerable money.
A CAUSE OP HEAtJACHE.
One Vary Common Cause, Generally Overlooked. Headache is a symptom, ah indication of detangement or disease, in some orga.n, arid the cause of the headache is difficult to locate boc&tise do maiiV diseases have headache as a prominent symptom deningeriiPnt of tbe stonifich. and liver, heart trouble, kidney disejlse, hing trouble. eye strain or ill fitting glasses all produce headaches arid if aVp collld always lbcate tile organ which is at fault the cure of obstinate headaches would be'a much simpler matter.
However, for that form of headache called frontal headache, pain back of t.he eyes and in forehead, the cause is Mow itTicriVii to be catarrh of. tile head, and throat: when the headache is locat-
fed
in ba&k of head arid npek it is often caused., from catarrh of the stomach or liver.
At, any rate catarrh is th" most common cause Of such headaches and the cun of the catarrh causes a, prompt disappearance of the headaches.
There is at present no treatment for fciiffirfli sn convenient and effective as Stuart's Catarrh Tablets, a new internal 'reinMy ih tablet forai, compflsSd of antiseptl!5 like ted glim, blood root which aeMipbn the blood and eaiise tile elimination of the catarrhal poison from the system through the natural channels.
Miss Cora Alnsley, it prominent school toilciier in one of our normal Schools, speaks Of her experience with catarrhal liefUlaches arid eulogizes Stuart's Catarrh TriUletS as it eiit-e for tlierii. Shci writes: "I suffered daily from severe frontal htfidaclie altd pain iii find 'brick of the eyes?, at times so intensely as to incapacitate me in my daily -duties. "Stiiftrt's Catarrh Tablets were highly recommended to me as a safe and pleasant catarrh cure and after using a fifty cent boxes which procured, from l'vv druSiirist's wri^ surnfis^fl and debglitefl to find tli,at both ttie catarrh and headS^lies lijirt gone for good." sliiart'fi Catarrh TabteFs are' sold by ('nicr^st^St ilfty-cents per package, un-(Vt-the mi a rantee of the proprietors that 1 contain absolutely nor cocaine •ffottlWl—itl sO many catarrh cures) wo oriiitifi-'fso common in clieap eougfi cures) nor Stir harmful clrug.' Visitors pay a small fee to go through the prison, and Davis stands at a little wicket and sells the tickets. REVIVE THE PROJECT
There is some doubt as to the identity of'tlie people behind the "prDHeefr,- but the general belief is flint' the tinph te neople at. Elwood and W. B. Leeds, president of the "Rock Island, have some interest in it. Mr. Lfeeds and Dati O. Reid own a rirht-of-wav from Elwood to Lane! via. Perkinsville, and tlis route is thought, ^-ill be Tiart. of the new rond. The purpose of the road: is to onen the emin mnvkft of Toledo and elevators will be built. Pink ham's Vegetable Compound. Gratitude, compels me to acknowledge the great merit of your Vegetable Compound.
