Market.
Moxhat. May 10. 1869. Tra^oift trencral uirr'handiae hat been |oaern«<l by a very apatbotte footing, and the week just oloaed ahowed a iluggtih eondition of trade, not oinally looked for at (Me eeaeon of the year. The wet weather, dnrtftf the (renter part of the itting, eottrlbated iota little to (Me state of affeira—retarding farming operatione—and now. »t this late day, wo And (he farmer* too boey with their plowing to be able to glee mo oh attention to trade in the etty. All pmebaaes now made are with reference to immediate wants end in no eommodity is there any dtopoeition to speenlate. . What iitile demand there has been for floor during the week, has boen confined to low gradee, and as the aopply of these has not been large, business has been necessarily restricted to a limited shipment and small local trade. Kiislcrn prices are relatively lower than here, dsterring shippers and diseoaragiog speculators. Local dealers are unwilling to buy in excess of immediate wants. Wheat has been less active, with a tendency downward, allfiough the street market has ruled rather firm. The supply has been light. Buyers and sellers are apart in their views, and nothing of consequence was done. White wheat has been scarce and in demand. Corn has ruled firmer, and a slight advance es-tubli.-hed on best quality. <»nt« have been scarce and nominal. iVovisions have been wi hout special change. The demand only moderate, but holdeisare indifferent about selling except at full rates. In fact, nil that can be properly said of the market is that it has Keen dull, with a small consumptive demand. In groceries we have no changes to make. 'I redo has boen st»ndy. Dry Hoods experienced a very dull week, 'i’rin's, blenched muslins, brown sheetings, drillings und coveriet yarn have declined. The market for country produce bus been modora*ely active, Kggs are in large receipt, and declining. Prices in the East have declined materially. which had the effector weakening the market here, and wo now quote strictly fresh at lie. Putter, dull and lower. Supply moderate. W e reduce our quotations to 3fe. Poultry unchangod. Potatoes still in excessive snrply, and a. tually a "drug” on the market. All other nrtiolcs under this heading we report'.be ssme as Inst week. In'eedswe have no change to make. Clover and Timothy are merely nominal in price. IVhi-ky dud at !<0 c. Hides and leather are hnv’ng a lively business. Wo have no change to make in quotations. Lumber, brick, lime, and building material generally are io good demand. Sec our table of quotations for all the principal articles of trade. Tho list is carefully corrected daily. EL'JUK-Dull, wish limited shipping demand, with small local trade.
