The Iidiacapoli Joirnal, cf ye?terdiy. accidentally, no doubt, o Hi it ted from the report of Governor Morton' speech, wbich it published, the following line: I from tee C'Jtflnnatl Commercial of Saturday.! Tbe foreg'iinjj we cop? from the Cincinnati Commercial of yesterday. On Saturday tbe Indianapolis Journal in a otiee of Oorernor Vloatox's speech at Richmond, on Thursday right last, remarked : "Our special abort band reporter has furnished us with a cop? of Oovernor Mortoo'a elaborate speech de!i?ered at Richmond on Tburada? eretiin?, and we hid expected to lay it before the readers of the Journal this morning; but owing: to the crowded atate of our column?, we are compelled to defer its publication until Monday." On Saturday morning tbe speech appeared in full io both the (Iizttte and Commercial. The crowded s'ate of their columns did not prerent its publication. It cow appears from the Com mercial's allegations that the Journal bad so ahoit hand report of the speech, as it alleges, but copied it rtrtutim, tt literatim, it jijnctmitim, fnmtha Commercial. The headings, subdivieions and all are just as ther appear in tbe Commercial. The Journal has had a great deal to say lately about its enterprise. Here ia a sample of it, and likewise of the pious fraud? of that rery moral concern. tzTThe Journal'a attempts at wit. and they are all upon borrowed capital, puts us in mind of a pretty good thing told us by a gentleman eocnectel with thit establishment. He says that in a conversation with an old Republican farmer from Wayne county, the latter remarked of the'Meading man' (that expression is theatrical we believe.) of the Republican Central organ, that when 'Bill" was in Wayne, engineering politic? in the limited fiel J of that county, he could he tolerated, but to place him at tbe bead of the State organ to eolightea ind guide the part; in the State upon questions ol f-uMie policy, he thought wan nrrend io; it on pre'tj thin. Thit's just the character of the Journal's attempted witticUma very thin. tST'The Journal, in noticing "the Twentyfourth colwred regimcLt, raided in Indiana," thus eulogized them: Thoe heroes, who deserve chiplct and honors." The organ Cin see heroes, deserving chsplefn nd honors in the "colored"' repimects, but it his no such terms of admiration for the white soldier of Indiana. Evidently the Jcurntl is not willing to consider that the wh't coldiers. even if they behave tbemscUes, are equal tot'ie colored troop swMilwwwwaMwjwMiWawjwaBBBwiiwaiWBwawiisiiiiiiiiMii The r.pl rnpal huroli-ltoiiniou of tlic - epuriitcd diuretic. At te? meeting of the t'pncopil Convention of the Diocese of Nes York, la-t week. Bishop PoTTaR, iu hia annual addfe.s, in eloquent and f elmg termn and in a Christian spirit, urged a re tnion of the Northern and Southern Churches. The seutiments be expressed upon the occasion rece ved the cordial approval of tbe ConventionThe triennial Convention of tbe Church assem bles in Phihdelphia this week, and doubtlees meteure-4 will be adopted which will restore tbe union which existed before tbe war, and thus aid io bealinr the political lisensiocs and aliens tions wbich will open the way to a lasting re umon of the States. Tbe following are the re mark? of Bishop Potter upon tbe prospective reunion with the Southern Church, which, as will be seen, ne heartily endorses: ' Among the many happy conseqnences of the restoration of peace will be, it is presumed, the speedy reappearance iu our general ecclesiastical council of the beloved btetbreu, bisbops, clergy, od laity, who for four years have been separated from us by hindrances incident to a täte of war. It will be a reunion that will arouse the teoderest sensibilities of every Christian heart. It will ahow that old affections have onl? been restrained, not extinguished, and tbat feelings long pent up claim a more than ordinary indulgence in demonstrations of love, respect and sympathy. I verily believe, aa I do most reverently hope and pray, that not one werd of reproach or bitterness will be beard, not one look of coldne appear, to mar tbe dignity aod loveliness ofthat touching icene. Iq that much-loned-f'or welcome hour, we shall need no declaration of principles, no formal indication of the peaceful character of the Christian ministry. Divine Providence has spoken! Anj words that we can ue in reference to the past, whether persons or things, will be a mere impertinence, add ing nctMug to the lessons that come to as from adove, and only leading to change celestial barmonies ino the miserable discordant souud of earth born passion. The important acts of the Soutbern dioceses, done while they were in a state of separation froos us. and which therefore require the unction of the General Convention, will unquc-tionably be recognized and confirmed at once They are only three in nuumber.
