II iaatdiattlj atarttl fcr this plaO, d1 arrived oa Tcday to find tbtm is oer streets and toltaraof their sal cond.tioa. Yesterday he riiited the MesomoLe Uocae to procure their baggage, for ke bad determined to return tbt ucfortuaatea to their pareahi. The proprietor aod pimps refuted lo let him hire !t, when ha returned to this city and procured tbt assistance of Sheriff ilahony at J a meaber of the late com pic y, and returning with them, procured their trunks and satchels. These be bad takes to the JerTeron Hoste, and while there, or on the way to the. bouse, they learned that sereral of the accomplices of Pierce were ia the city trying to inreigle tho girls orer the rirer agaia. Tbey at once went lo seareb of them, and while doing to the tctacdrels, to accomplish their ends more easily, went lo the JeCsrsoo Hosse and took the girls' baggage. The shenfTand the two toldiera got wind of thi new mtLfiuf er, and were fortunate ia capturing the villains before they succeeded in getting away. The names of these inhumsn rascals are Dan Starr, watchman of the coacero, and James Howey, Rough Jark. They wera taken before Judge Cail!on. aüd information made charging btarr, by tbresw, to compel the girls to do siolence to their wishes, and Howey with petit larceny. StarrV examination came off sasterday craning, and he was held ia the sum tlx hundred dollars. Howey's will take place this morning. IJatthis is bot all we hire to relate of tb's horrible teil and its ßenda incarnate. Amco the witne.sei ia the examination was a handsome young girl, whom the sheriff rescued from their den of infamy. Seldom is a prettier face teen on cur street, and rauch less seldom such aa eye of blue. The itory connected with her fate ia still more terrible. Something like two month ago ?he came to this city a pure and innocent country girl from Jackson county, and entered the employment of one of oar city milliners. While engaged in that service she became acquainted with an honorable and respectable young man who has since left the city. lie had frequently iiilad her, aud she bad, on a number of occasions, taken a drive with him. How it wai he did not learn, bat Pierce became acqaiintcd with these facts and be laid a most damnable trap to ruiu her. Us procured a horse and ba?ey one evening and drove dovn to her residence, holding oct the idea he was- iu tiic cui!oy of orne livery tilth lishmeut, and told ber that this young man bad sect bim down with the boggy with a request that she would take "cat ia it and be driven up to a certain place whert Le wo.tld meet ber, and they would take one of their accustomed drirei together. She unthinkingly complieJ, when Pierce, ia accordance with his pUn, drove her outside cf the city limiu, and when he had reached a favorable place, amid some timber, be forcibly rarlshed her person From thence he took her to his den, where, aa in the case of the other two girls, be compelled ber, using the esme means, to fill the same revolting office. From the Sheriff we learn that there is another young girl of fifteen years of age still remaining with Pierce. She is from Cedar Falls, or some other town en the railroad west. She declined giving ber name, and positively refused to leave the place with the Sheriff, at ahe said there was no other course marked out for her. Besides this unfortunate girl, there are eight women in the ctab!i-hment, sotne of them most deplorable looking objects, and who are degraded beyond tfliemption. One of the Fiecport girls stated while ia tho court rcoro thit i'. wn a practice with Ticrca aud Irl ticw to administer choloforta to parties who resorted to bis house, and while under its intlucnce to rob them of their money and valuable. We have performed our task, imperfectly it may be. in the relation of these outrage Is it possible, after all these crimes coming to lipht, that such a place should be suffered to remain br thoee who have the authority to rem jtc it, or that villain, of the dye of Pierce and his accomplices shall be permitted to Ii7o in oor ruid.it, and pollute our moral atmosphere by their presence? IUther than this should be, we should prefer to Fee the people appeal to Judge Lynch to rectify the wrong.
Crime In Mew Ysrk. A New York correspondent furnishe the following: A XI LSI! II -IT Dl AI.CATION. Several new defalcations have been discovered io the down town banks, but as the amounts subtracted have been small, and the guilty par tie-s persons of some toeril position, the unpleasant affairs h ive been hushed up. The other day a Director of a Pine street bank happened to see one of the paying-tellers hand a young ar.d eaudily-attired woman a roll of notes in a mysterious manner, and, his su-pieions be coming aroused, he followed her into Broadway, and catiaed her arrest. Greatly alarmed, the confessed at once that she was the mistress of the teller, and had been for a year; that he hd often given her raocty at the bank dek, aud he uppocd it was his own. She resiJed in a fashionable quirtcr up town, in a handsome house, elegantly furnished, and her lover lived with her at the rate of $!?.U(.)Ü or $10.000 a year, although his salary was only $I,bU0. An examination into his accounts proved that the young man bad abstracted some $12,000 from tht institution, and that he bad frequently used its funda fcr snfculations of hij own. In many of them be had been fortunate, and had expended bis gains upon his frail friend; but during the past two months he had been unlucky, and been compelled to draw on the bank for bis operations in the street. The furniture of the abode of lawless lore has been sold to make good the teller'a defalcations, and he baa been quietly dismissed from bia position. VERMIN EXTERMINATOR. 1865. 1865. AÄ: ....
