T tn pwoplw of tb Iforth. who seek Ue aJranugea of a rich oiI bexltbj climate and refined society, Virginia effort iofloUely greater advantages than Texas. Here are cot acting so widely. Io Virginia, the recent Iessoni of adversity have oot yet brought our farmers much worldly wisdom. We regret to announce this unpleasant fact, but it will oot brm tbem to know of it. Go where you please io much tbe largest aod fertile counties of Virginia, you are snre to fiod fences burnei, fields grusnog op io young- pines, persimmons aod broom straw. This picture is reodered still more gloomy by the absence of all indications ol comfort and prosperity. Horses, sheep, hogs and horned cattle are rarely seen, and a solitary "condemned horse" dtiven (by some rheumatic negro who is too old to bo luga ciourf) to a plow which cuts a furrow about three inches deep, is the sole reliance for a crop of maoy a farmer who owls a thoustnd acres of good arable land. Tbe pailiogsof bis yard and gariea have long since fed the bright camp fires of cot over scrupulous Federal or Confederate soldiers, and a solitary cow, aod a dozen predacious Lens, regard all attempts at gardening as benevolent contributions to their personal comfort. This neglected and useless laud, these troublesome domestic fowl, together with the cow, a living akelctwQ of a pig, a hungry, wolih lookicg do, a few pounds of meat and a few bushels ot me!, make up the worldly wealth of hundreds atid thousands of our once prosperous farmers. Bis Inimitable preparation of SARSAPAUIL.LA has long stood at the bead of the various compounds ofthat valuable dreg. Hi? Compound of WILD CHERRY ha become a household word throughout the West and South. Ilia Worm Loxenges, in lets than a year after their Introduction, attained a reputation As wide spread as the continent of North America. But the crowning glory of bis life remains to be attained in bis discovery, or rather combination, for he does not claim to have been the discoverer of CF.lltO., which Is tbe baU of the Bitters now offered to the public. That honor belongs to the native inhabitants of Central America, to whom its virtues have been anown for more than two hundred years. Armed with it, the Indian bids defiance to the most deadly malaria and handles without fear tbe most venomoa serpents. Itlt a belief with tbem, tbat while there i breath In the bod; the Cedron is potent to cure, no matter what the lea may be. While Dr. Bull Is not prepared to endorse this estravgant pretention, be i nevertheless satisfied from a thorough examination of the evidence relating to its virtues, that as a remedy and preventative of all diseases arising from exposure, either to change of weather or clioiate, or to mlasmatie Influences, it stands WITHOUT A RIVAL!
