For the credit of the city and täte, the demonstration on Sunday should be imposing, and in every way equal to those nude io other cities. A little energy and spirit m all that is reqotsite, and for the sake of our reputation as a city, if none other, let it be speedily manifcated. PST II proposed the ladies lay aside their hoops upon Sunday in order that there my he more room! The genius that first proposed this mode of economizing space is & most remsrkv ble one, and ehould be presented by the sterner ?-ex with a reward of merit. Tbe wretch o luppose that the Udiei must contract their proportiuua himply to accommodate tbe country verdants that are expected to be here on the 30th. To be diverted of thit beiutiful rotundity and symmetry of fur on that isouly tobe possessed bv the aid of a "ske!eton"is asking too much. We opine the Indies will never submit to such an ungenerous proposition. Then, indeed, wonld not the fair creatures be without tbeir sphere when outs!de.their hoops? EXPLOSION OF CUNPOWDER FROM CAIRO AND BELOW. From Mexico and South America. LATER rlOaTl EVROPE. COMMENTS OF THE LONDON PRESS. Ac. Ac., Ac , Ac. air. Front Albanr Albany, M. Y., April 26 From the time last night the remains of President Lincoln were deposited in the capital until now, persoua have been pushing thither to aee tbe honored dead. This morninz tbe line of people extended at least a mile and a half; of thoe composing it fully one half were ladies. Tbe coßa bis again been strewn by the ladies with flowers. Tbe cars and steamboats this morning hare brought additional thousands to the city. The funeral party are entertained by the cor poratioo authorities at tbe Deiavau House. All the buildings are draped in mourning. Among the most touching mottoes on the house front are the following: "The heart ot the nation throbs heavily at the portrals of the tomb." "Let ui resolve that the roam red dead shall not have died iu vain " Tbe latter ia believed to be an extract from Lincoln's Maryland fair remarks. There ate three new and elegant sleeping care furnished by the New Tork Central Railroad Company. II. W. Chitteu Jen, general superintendent of the Central road, will accompany the train to Buffal't. A low estimate fixes tbe number of strangers here to diy at 30,000. All morning extra trains and excursion boats brought large numbers cf people from the surrounding country, many coming a distance of 100 or 200 miles Never were such multitudes gathered at the capitol. Everybody seemed fully to participate in the solemnities of tbe occasion. At 1 o'clock tbe military, fire department and civic societies, began to form. At 2 o'clock the coffin wa closed From 1 o'clock a. ui , all through the night and till 2 p. rn , a constant stream of people was pouring through the capitol to take a last view of the distinguished remains, and yet thousands were in line wailing when the hour arrived for replacing the cover. Nearly 50,000 men, women aud children visited the remains. Soon after 2 o'clock, the procession having been formed, commenced its march over the pre ciihed route It was composed of the 10th and 25th regiment, of this rity, the 21th and a light horse battery of Troy, the Kte and city authorities, the fire department, and a lirge number of civic ociet:es The military was about 2,000 strong. The hcatse as elegantly and elaborately finished, tiimmed with white eiU, adorned with silver mountings, and surmounted by the eagle. At 3:45 the train was reached, and the cofHu was transferred to the hearse car in which it had been brought from Washington. At 4 o'clock the remains of the lamented pie-Men t were moved from Albany, on tbeir way to their resting place in the Weit. rrom wawtilnsrton. Wasuixotox, Arril 26th. The Richmond Wbig and Times of yesterday have been received. The Whig aays: From men of Intelligence who reached here j on the hoat irom Danville, we learn some interesting particular ot the events that occurred there after the aurrencler of Lee's army. When this event became known in town and the surrounding ccuntrv. a crowd of citizens, of all classes, ages and colors, and large numbers of soldiers, collected around the buildings in which were stored immense quantities of commissary stores, and after short deliberation made a general rush upon tbe establbhments. Tbe parties in charge of tbe stores at first attempted to resist the mob, but they were quickly forced to'desist and seek tbeir own safety in flight. The mob scattered throughout every put of the the buildings, plundering according to his or her fancv. Iu o:;e of the buildings it appears there was a large quantity of ammunition gunpowder in kegs aud percussion caps. The soldiers and country people in Stvanaah crowded round the powder eager to secure it for fowling purposes. While they were thus engaged, by some means or other, fire communicated to tbe powder, and in an instant the building and contents, including over fifty persots, were blown to atoms.
