Tb latest reliable orvi we Lave of tier.etal Sherman'i movemecta i that cu the 1 3th Le was at WioDiboro, S. C.,on tbe Charlotte road. while Beauregard wat retiring on Charlotte, X. C , concentrating hia troops a Le retreated. The report that Gen. Sherman was at Camden, S. C, a J b true, as from Wicnsboro, it would lie directlj in hia course to Florence. Hereafter we must consider that. CZXIXAU IBIIViX ASD fcCHOFIELD ARE CO OriBATI-NO. Oo the 17th Gen. SchoSeld airanced from SmithriHe, 2i C, upon the west bank of the Cape Fear riter, toward Fort Anderson, while Geo. Terry coved up the peninsula, acd Admiral Porter, with ht fleet, up the river. On the VJlh Fort Aoderaon fell, and we nave the cewa to daj that Wilmington was captured on the 23 J. There are ereral revons for ascrtic? that Gena. ScboGelJ and Sherman are acting in conjunction. The principal one ia that tho Corp of the former formed an intregal part of the latter in the campaigns in the west, and that it hu therefore been selected bj Oca. Sherman to assUt him in tli-3 grand campaign. The corpe did not leave Gen. Tbomta' bnncb of Sherman's armj until the present plan of operations bad been agreed upon and In process of execution, and was then sent to North Carolin, evident! with the intention of assisting in the final issue of tbe present campaign. The movement of Gen. Scbofield upon Wilmington peetns to have been timed to accord with that of Sherman. There his teen no period since General Scbofield landed his aftny in North Carolina when he could not have done precisely that which bo successfully accomplished on the 22J. But an earlier movement than the one he did make a a. . a t .. a t. wouiu nave oeen lmpracucaoie, ana uave possiblj disconcerted the plana of Sherman by re Having liragg's armj irom the defence of Wilmington, and enabling it to reinforce Beauregard before Sherman bad severed communications so as to prevent or retard it. With the fall of Wilmiogton on the 22 J, General SchoSeld was at liberty to pursue that which we assume wj the original plan of the campaign, and push on to form a junction with his chief. A MOVEMEMT ON FLORENCE. Florence is 1U7 miles from Wilmington on the Manchester road. This is the point at which me auppo-e that General Sherman's advance aimed after leaving Winnsboro. If thU wm the direction of Sherman' column it would have beeu reached before the 22J, acd before the enemv could obstruct tbe movement to an y considerable extent. Bragg, in evacuating Wilmington, would oot proceed south, but rather west or north, 'and therefore General Schoheld would nd the road to Florence almost intact, so that he could push on rapidly. It is probible that a junction between Sherman and SchoSeld has been effected ere this. Sherman's object is sexki.vo a Bast. We rutin not estimate the present campaign by the fruits of Sherman's famous raid through Georgia. From Atlantt to Savannah he found a productive country, well cultivated Gelds, and an abundance of everythirg with which to supply hia army, lie needed nothing, not even the usual army ration for hi troof. The country upplied everything, and more than it could use. His march in the present cimpaigu has been different. During hia stay in South Carolina Ltj has apparently been well provide, but we may assume cnlv aftrr Le crossed the EdkLo. Ecforc that event he wag traveling through swamp., lording mail stream!, and fecditig hU troop at a disadvantage. His train could not be encumbered with many stores, and tho.-e which were absolutely necessary bad to be well guarded, and thus impeded bis progre?. Alter he crowed the Kdisto, however, and reached a plateau of productive country, his army doubtle?. lived well and had no occasion to seek a base of supply. As be approaebca North Carolina, however, the ne ceasity for a depot from which he can replenish his stores becomes absolute. He caocot hope to subsist bis army oft the country, for the middle and weatern portions of the state are mainly un productive of food. There are strips of land in tbe valleys and at the ba-es of the mountains which micbt furLl?h a limited sur:lrof provisions, but these are not ready of access The eastern portion of the state is productive of scarcely anything besides naval store?, and hence a campaign in any part of North Carolina without a base of supply would be hazardous in the extreme. For this reou be in undoubtedly forming a junction with General Schoüeld' upon the line of tbe Manchester road. TBK EBEL HINTS AT EXTENSIVE COMBINATION. It will be remembered that while (Jen. Shcr man was conducting bis campaign through Georgia to the coast, the rebel editors, after puzzling themselves and tbe people with respect to bis purposes and wherabouts, announced, very guardedly ar 1 mysteriously, that certain combinations were being formed which would overthrow' and annihilate the foe before he could escape. The result showed that no such combination existed, and that Sherman was 'comparatively unopposed. The rebel papers now contain similar predictions, and announce that ceruin military movements are in progres?, which will Meet u ally check the course of Gen. Sherra m. We my corjectore that these rebel maneuvres are the effort of Be-turegard to unite Bragg' and Hardee' force? with hi own, and k present a lor m'xiable barrier to Sherman's further progres into North Carolina. But tbe union commtnder. if he is seeking to e fleet a junc ion with Scbofield, will avoid this obstruction, and place his army upon the coat in a rond'ui-in and position to invade the fctate of North Carolina iu overwhelming force. sue oaTH caboua aaaaoADi. CO TI POUND GIDRON BITTERS, The Latest .and Host Important Discovery OF TUB NINETEENTH CENTURY ! ! ! No man's name H more intimately connected with the Listory of MATERIA MEDIC A of the Tnited States, or more favorably known ai a pioneer in Medical Discovery than that of Or. .lohn Hull, orLüiiivillc, Krntuclay. Hi-4 Inimitable preparation of SA Its A IA!ll lItA has long stood at the head of the virions compounds ofthat valuable dreg. Hi Compound of WILD CHERRY lias become a househoM word throughout the West and South. Ills Worm Lozenge?, in less than a year after their introduction, attained a reputation Ae wide spread as the continent of North America. But tbe crowning glory of hi life remains to be attained in his discovery, or rather combination, for he does not claim to hare been the discoverer of JKIHtO.M , which l the basis of tbe Bittet s now offered to the public. That honor belongs to the native inhabitants of Central America, to whom its virtues have been Known for more than two hundred years. Armed with it, the Indian bids defiance to the mot deadly malaria and handles without fear the most venomous oerpents. ltia a belief with them, that while there is breath in thebodr the Cedron is potent to cure, no matter w hat the iea may be. While Dr. Dull is not prepared to endorse this extravagant pretension, be it nevertheless satisfied from a thorounh examination of the evidence relating to its virtues, that as a remedy and prevc nutive cf all diseases arising from exposure, either to change of weather or clidiate, or to miasmatic influences, it stands WITHOUT A RIVAL! And Justly deserves the reputation it has so long enjoyed in Central America and the West Indies. IN DYSPEPSIA And its attendant train of symptoms, it acts more LIKE A CHAhM than a medicine. There Is nothing In the hole range of Materia Medica that can for a moment bear a comparison with it in this disease. A full account of this wonderful plant may be found in the 11th edition of the U. S. Dispensatory, pages 1357 and 1388. A series of experiment. In which Dr. Bull has been for years engaged, has Just been brought to a successful termination, and he is now enabled to offer to the public a combination of CEDRON with other approved tcnics, the whole preserved In the best quality of copper distilled Bourbon Whisky, which he la confident has n equal ia the world. II might furnish a Tolume of certificates, t ub lie have long since learned to estimate toch U..,j their true value. Tba safest plan is for every one to te for himself th Tlrtnes of a new medicine. CEDRON BITTERS ONK TRIAL, AND TOD VTIlL SEVER USK AN OTHKKS. It Is not necessary to publish a long Hat of diseases for which the CEDRON BITTERS are a specific. In all diseases of the Uowcls Liver or Kidneys In all auctions of the BRAIN, DEPENDINO UPON DERANGEMENT OF THE STOMACH OR BOWELS; IN GOUT, RHEUMATISM AND NEURALGIA, AND IN FEVER AND AGUE. It is destined to superl'- all other remedies. It cot only cures these diseases, bnt it prevents them. A wine glase of the Bitters, taken an hour before each meal, will obviate the ill effects of the moat unhealthy climate, and screen- the person takicg it against disease nader the most tryirg exposure.
