Some fifteen jeirs.ao Bea was travelicg ia Hutler couatj on profciiior.al busincsi. The roads were tolerably bad; and worst of all, the tage drirers and the landlord at a certain hotel wber the? topped for dinner had an under standing with each other like this; th paiea gers were taken in to dine, and when cleverly peited tie coach would dah up furiou.l? to tho door, aDd the driver would call fr his ps,rcngers, stating that he could not delay a minute on account of making hU time. They would ruh out, leaving their meals half finished, for fear of being left. For the half finished meal thej were charged half a dollar. The victual! were kpt for the next load of passengert , when the skinning process. was aain repeated. Ben had heard of thii place, and when they arrive! at the hotel he ret his wits to work to see if he could get the value of hi money. The bell raii for dinner and the crowd ru?hed in. They had hardly 0t comfortably seated when the coach reined up before the door, and the driver vociferously shouted: 'Tai.-enjers all aboardcan't wait but five tuinute. A gtceral rush a made, but Den sat still, and ate hi. dinner very composedly. The ftage drove oir and left him, but he seemed to cre very little about it. j Having disposed of Im dinner, he was cbioyin the luxury of a long nine in the fide room, when the landlord approached him. eayin? : "I be:r vour Danton, eir. but did vou fee a set ol sil er tea poon? went to dinuer 7" on 1I1P table when you I did, fir. Doniface was re-tdy in a few minute, and getting Den in with him, drove like Jehu for a?veu mile9, till he overtook the driver. The coach stopped, the driver looked frightened and everybody wondered to fee the landlord covered with mud, aud hU horse covered with sweat. I'en jumped out of the buggy and into the stage, when the driver, thinking that he h:ul hired the landlord to bring him after, v. as on the point ol driving ol!, when the landlord veiled out "I thit passenger in there ': ' "Ye," replied Den "Are you ure" "Ye, sir e e, shouted out our h.tchelur friend.
