Dunham's brigade charged upon tbe enemy's outer works at Proctor's Creek, aud soon succeeded io carrying the entire liue, section by section. At 10 A M. several of our batteries opeoed od tbe enemy, who had falleu back on a heavy tier of eutreucbments, which aie next to Fort Darling. The euemy replied b'iskly until 2 P. M .when our batteries, aided by sharpshooters, succeeded iu silencing them. Our batteries continued to store) their works until sui.dowu, aud then retired for the night. Our loss tor the day will not exceed 151) killed, wounded and niiising. At 4 P. M a shot from one of our batteries exploded a magazine in tlie outer works of Fort Darling, causing great cheering along our hues. On the 15th a small gunboMt, apparently car rying bui two guns, came down the James river, opposite Fort D rlinc, and threw Home shells into our cavalry camp on the b tuk of the river, and then Hieamed bick. Lieut. Col. Pond, of the 1st U. S Cavalry, discovered three insulated telegraph wires this morn in near the mouth of Kmsland Creek, leading to three loredue iti the James river. M. the rebels attempted to advance on our lines on the Petersburg turnpike, and alter a short but spirited engagement they were driven back to thrir breastworks. Everything is working favorably. Oen.
