Toe Moroa.h Raid The all-absorbing topic in oar city ia the daring raid into our State, and the only buine attended to is connected more or les with that important event. Our city is one great camp, and as the military ardor continue!, Htid active bund aie at work, or l er is being brought out of the confusion incident to a lusty aaaembling of large msw of men. The companies belonging to the city hive been 'ormed into regiment, and thoe from the country aie being brigaded as fast in roll rnn be filed und arms and equipments given out. N ine regiments of Infantry have been formed. Three or (our companies of cavalry have reported, and one of them, Capt. Foudray's of t Iii -a city, we presume is off for thereat of war. Col. Shank, we understand, ia to command the c i valry force. What is doing in regard to artillery, we do not know. Field pieces arrived yesterday, sr.d if needed, willing hauda will be found to work them. At to the number of men a ho h ive reported here, there seems to he a wide difTVrenre of opin ion. Thi? we know that the whole State is awake, and 10,()00 men, if there was transportation to get them here, couM be as ejdy obtained a 10,000. But there is not transportation, nor is anything liketh-vt number rejuired for the emrcency. It has required the exerienf a degree of firmness to keep tfiera back. The number -ic eepted lor service will be known to day, when the roll will be couiple'ed, and we can probably give the figure to nj'.rrow. The new fiom the scene of Morgan's opera tions was looked for with intense anxiety all day on Saturday and Sunday. But tl.e news come in slowly, or at least it was let out slowlr. 0:i Siturd ty morning It was announced that Morgan wa.a in Vernon at 6 o'clock the evening before, avid that he was miking for Lesingon in S-tt county. It was afterward learned that he hd burred a small bridge on the Jeffer.tonvi!le road at Vernon, and had occupied Lexington and Pari. The raiders were nxt heard of at North Vrr non. They summoneil Col Buiktum. of the Legion, to surrender on Saturday evening, but he did not see fit to do it, and Gen. Love arrived to hta relief, and after some parley about removing the women and children, iloran slipped off in the night without a fiht Sixteen of his men and horses were however captured by Gen. Love's forces, who followed him up. Hobaon, wih hia ciralry force, was also close upon him at this time. Thus the situation appeared whn the. extr is were issued yesterday morning. About 10 or 11 o'clock Morgan was heard from as having pas-1 through Versailles, in Ripley county, and a portion of hia force being at Ogood, on the Ohio and Miissipni railroad. A force was sent Irnm here, under Col Gavin, to Lawrenceburg to get on his track. What his design was in moving on Versailles is only left to conjecture. H would of conrse damage the railroad as much as possible, and then mjat likely seek a crowing at ome of the shallow bars between Liwrenceburg and Madison probably at Warsaw bar. This was the last reliable information we had of the .situation. The runhoat will keep a good look out upon all the shoal places in the river a heavy force i pressing upon him in every direction, and if there is a hole left big enough for the ubiquitous John to get out at, we don't see it. later. Gen Willcox received dispatches !ast night from Col Gavin, stating that he had a skirmish with the raiders at Sunnun's SMithm, on the Cincinnati road. One man, named C-naway,of Greensburg. waa killed, and another taken jrisoncr. The lines were cut at Spades', three miles tbis side of Sun man's. Advices were also received that heavy firinjr was heard at Mitchell, in Lawrence countv. If this should prore to be correct, the lorce evidentlv divido!, and endeavoring to work out of the trap at different places. The Citt Troow. A vigorous cavalry and artillery fight took place this morning over Antietam creek, preparatory t the great expected conflict.
