None but learned, diligent lawyers could have produced sitcU a work. The second volume embraces all the public statutes of Indiana now In force upon the subjects to which it relates, and the first all excepting the acts of the last regular and extra sessions of the Legislature. It Is a great excellence of the compilation that all existing statutes on each subject are collect together In the fame place in these volumes; o that ti e reader can see at a glance all the legislation in force on any given aubjeet. Take, for example, the act of 1852, organizing Courts of Common Pleas the editors publi.L the act at large, and they also print, in the form of notes on the same pa?e containing this statute, all the acts amendatory to it which have been parsed up to this time. And so they have done of all the other acts contained in the revision of 152. The editors have added much to the value of these volumesespecially the lastby the copious and learned notes with wbi-h the volumes abound. These notes Indicte much labor and legal acumen. They furnish u, in a concise and accurate form, with all the adjudications of our Supreme Court on thee statutes. These adjudications being now very numerous, the references to them In the volumes under conideration, will be of great value to the lawyer, and indeed to all persons concerned in the administration of justice. The editors have alo referred, In their note., to numerous decisions In other States, made on statutes similar to ojr.. An excellence of these volume., not to be overlooked is the full and accurate index appended to each. In Indiana, there never has been a good Index to any volumes o Statut s publihed by authority. This provoking defect ha leen completely remedied in the volumes under review; and the.e indexes will greatly lighten the labor of all v ho have occasion to look into our statutes. This is the first time that private enteprize has attempted the publication cf Indiana statute. The attempt, I do not doubt, will be successful, and will duly reward the learned editors and enterprizing publisheis. Every lawyer will, of course, purchase these volumes; and every clerk, sheriff, and justice of the peace of the State, will find it to his advantage to own them. DAVID M' DONALD. The events of the war as tbey are developed will be faithfully given, so that the public may be advised as to its progres; tbe result of battle; tbe condition of tbe contending armies, and all that affects tbe great struggle, at Lome and abroad, for the overthrow of tbe Rebellion. In addition, tbe Sentinel will contain the CURRENT NEWS of the day, CHOICE MISCELLANY, STATE ITEMS, the latest reports of the NEW YORK and CINCINNATI GENERAL and CATTLE M ARKETS, the condition of the MONEY an 1 STOCK MARKETS; in a word, it will be the effort of the Proprietors of tbe Sntintl to give its columns nn interest for all classes of readers and such information as will be especially adapted to the well being of the Citizen of Indiana. The Sentlnrl will continue to repre;eiil and stand by the regular organizations of the Democratic party, State and National; sustain the principles and policy they shall avow, and support the candidates they may nominate.
