STATUTES OF INDIANA. UAVl.t V IIOKnS HF.VIIIIO. The eeot4 wlame of Meaarw. Gavin k Fiord' compilation of Indiana S'a utrt baa JaM appeared. Tbl eolnme Completes their work. It mechanical eaecutloa I r Credita'.le; and the kill, leamlnK, and labor which the litor bare bestowed on It, merit the high at praiae. 5 one but IcariM J, diligent lawyers could bare produced ich a work. The second volume embrace all the public statutes f Indiana now In force upon the ut ject to which It relates, end the first all excepting the acta of the Ut rrfular and e tra setons of the le(rilature. It la e great excellence of the compilation that all existing atatutes on each uljject are collected together in the ame place in theae Totumea; o that t e reader can e at a g'snr all the legihlation in force n anjgivtn sulject. Take, for example, the act of 152. orranixins; Court of Common riea the elitor publil. the act at Iarpe. and they also print, in the form of notes on the ame page containing this statute, all the acta amendatory to it which have been pa.ed up to this time. And so 1 hey have done of all the other acts Contained In the rerlnton of 1S5J. The editor have added much to the value of these volume especially the l.t by the copious and learned note with which the volumes abound. These notes Indicate much labor and legal acumen. They furnish u, in a concise aud accurate farm, with all the ad udications of our Supreme Court on th-se statutes. These adjudications being now very numeroa, ;h references to them in th volumes under C"Dlderai ion, will be of great value to the lawyer, aud indeed to all perauna concerned in the adminlstra ion ot Justice. The editors have al-o referreJ, 11 their note, to numerous decisions in ctbei States, made on atatutes similar to ours. An excellence of these volume., not to be overlooked I the full and accurate index appended to each. In Ind!'ana, tbcra uever baa beeu a good index to any vo antes o statutes published by authority. This provoking defect ta been completely rrnie'i-d in the vvlusaee under review; and tbee indexes w ill areatly lighten the labor of 11 who have occasion to look into our -tatutes. TLU Is the first time that private euterprize has at tempted tb publ cation of Indiana tatutea. The at tempt, t do not doubt, will te successful, and will duly reward the learned editora aiid etiterprizing publisher. Ever lawyer will, of course, purchase thee volumes; and every clerk, sheriff, aud justice of the peace of the State, will find it to Li advantage to own tbera. David itdoxald. Indianapolis, June 5, 1862 The oreroing notice hy Jndge McDokalp, of Gavix A Hokp's Compilation of the statutes of Indiana, is not deig tied as a putf of the worn, but U an unsolicited comineudation ot the ability, accuracy, and completeuesa with wbch the volume have been prepared. The sf coud volume, which hasjut been issued from the pr si, i lein2 delivered to subscribers a rapid!) a posjhlt. This edition of the statutes will be found a necessity to every lawyer, ju-tice of the peace, and county officer in the State. The public ition of the work is a private enterprise, and the publishers' only hope for remuneration is in it sale to those for whose convenience it was prep red. The two volumes contain about 1600 patc of matter, nearly double the quantity embraced the tevi.-I n of 1S52. The prie of thf work la ft 50 per e lum. or $9 00 for the two volume. Order addressed to the subscriber wil receive prompt attention. J.J. RINGHAM, June 7th, l63. Indianapolis. Ind. RAILROADS. Iii(li:iii.iHt!i ami .Tl.uli-oii 1862. eSJSSSSZS 1862.
