A receipt lor "3Iess No. 1 of the John Harvey Guards acknowledges the issue of rations of bacon, meal, eo flee, rice, tugar, viuegar, hoap and salt. A lit of camp and garrison eipuipage "on hand in Company 1, 17th North Carolina regiment," contains a record of ample tdoiei of ball cartridge, bayonets, mukets, knarrsack, haversacks and canteens, lu fact, the rebel troops were abundantly uppliel with food and arms, and lacking nothing but clothing. Their wardrobes w ere de cidedly deficient, and the appearance of the men was consequently unprepossessing. The New Albany Wycr nay: The citizens of Lafayette deserve the highest praise for the kind manner in which they received the rebel prisoners bent to that city. Their at tention to the sick and the wants ot the well are noble acts of charity, most honorable to the gen erous people of the Star City. Col. A. D.
