Hay, who were arrested for violating the city ordi nance, prohibiting the running for passengers in and about the Union Depot, had their trial yesterday heforo Esquire Coulon, acting Mayor. They were both convicted and each fined three dollars and costs. An application for appeal was refused by the acting Mayor. The partiea then stayed the judgment. Practical Plumber.—We refer the reader to tlie advertisement of John C. Dunn, practical plumber, Washington street, second door east of Odd Fellows’ Hall. Mr. Dunn is a superior workman. He has just received an assortment of cistern and well pumps, well worthy the attention of those in need of such articles. Mr. Dunn is very favorably recommended by those who have tested his workmanship. Almost a Suicide.—A Washington street auctioneer, living in the north-western part of the city, made an attempt to shuffle off his mortal coil on Thursday evening. He purchased arsenic, went home and took the dose in presence of his family. Physicians were immediately summoned, antidotes given, and the well-intended attempt to commit suicide frustrated. The individual lias been in an unhappy state of mind for some time, and but a few days ago laid he would willingly die if he could make way with one individual. It is supixjsed that some domestic dtffl culties were the inciting cause of the rash sot. Holland Bitters.—We refer our readers to the advertisement of the “Celebrated Stomach Bitters,” manufactured by the world-renowned Dr. Bonenkamp, of Amsterdam, Holland. These bitters have the highest testimonials aa to their value in cases of dyspepsia, diseases of the kidneys, liver complaints, fever and ague, and all affections of the liver and the stomach. J. L. Wallach, of thi«.oUy, is the sole agent for Dr. Bonenkamp in the United States and Canada, to whom application must be made by all persona who are desirous of becoming agents for the sale of this popular medicine. We have heard of several cases in which Bonenkamp's Bitters have been used with the most beneficial effect; diseases of long standing, which have not been relieved by other remedies. Mr. Henry’s Patent Gas Burner. — Our youug friend Cleary, at his gas-fitting establish, ■sent on Washington street, opposite the Statehouse, has this great Improvement in gas burners. Perfect combustion, freedom from smoke, increase of light and saving of gas are all obtained by the use of thase burners. They were thoroughly tested by the authorities of Cincinnati, and finding them to be the best and most economical burners in use, they have been placed upon all the public lamps in that city. Mr. Henry's burner will give from three to eight per cent, more light than any ether patent burner in use, and thirty-nine per cent, more light than a common burner. It is an economical institution. This burner should be placed upon our public lamps, and every citizen who uses gas will flad it to his advantage to use them. No n what the pressure, no more gas is consumed by this burner than is necessary.
