Probably no one remedy has ever been known which cured so many and such dangerous cases as this. Some ne human aid can reach; but even to those the Cherry Pec toral affords relief and comfort. AstoR House, N. Y. City, March 5, 1856. Dwctor Ayer, Lowell: I feel it a duty and pleasure to inform you what yeur Cherry Pectoral has done for my wile. She had been five months laboring under the dangerous symptoms of consumption, from which no aid we could procure gave her much relief. She was steadily failing, until Dr. Strong, of this city, where we have come for advice recommended a trial of your medicine. We bless his kindness, as we do your skill, for she has recovered from that day. She is not yet as strong as she used to be, but is free from her cough, and calls herself well. Yours, with gratitude and regard. ORLANDO SHELBY, of Shelbyville. Consumptives, do not despair until you have tried Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. It ia made by one of the best medical chemists in the world, and its cares all around us bespeak the high merits of Its virtues.—Phtia. Ledger. TTT’Prepared by Dr. J. 0. Attend to tlse Nl»« k. At this season, the herdsman should nepleet no precaution, forego no duty that will affect the comfort and safety of his stock. 'I’here should be a division of stor k, if it has not already been done—the young from the old, the males and fattening cows from those with calf. Of the-io, separate the ill-natured and strong from the weak. “Cannot do it sir, have not got the yard room—no divisions in the yard.” Well, we were not telling you what must be done, but what should be done. This division will insure you abetter growth in young stock, better condition in those fattening, ami more safety in the delivery of calves by your cows. Safety is an item not to be overlooked either. Take care of the cows; see that they are well and properly fed; they should be fed regularly. Do not feed food that is hard to dige*’., or that will require a large bulk to furnish the proper amount of nutrition. An occasional mash is a benefit, and too careful attention cannot be paid the cow the two weeks precedin' calving. Oil cake is frequently fed with good results, in small quantities; carrots are capital. The feed after calving should be a mash—a uytrm mash of bran and oats, (which will facilitate “cleaning,”) aud plenty o\‘good hay. Do not neglect to provide a warm shelter for both cowand calf. It you purpose feeding the call, do not let it remain with the cow more than one day, and we have frequently separated the cow and calf after the calf has once suckled — This is a matter of importance sometimes, and requires the exercise of judgment to decide which is best. It is frequently better for the safety ofthe cow’s bag, and her value as a milker, that the calf is not allowed to suck at all. This is seldom the case, however. It is better that the cow have room and freedom to move around, and lie down and rise unembarrassed when calv-
ing.
Provide plenty of straw for bedding It is here that humanity and care pays. Feed the calf first with its mother’s milk. This is of the first importance in the outset, as it possesses qualities ililuptovl Ao tU o -errezsfeo <111*1 ^UllUltlUll OT Ulc Cftll.—— Learn It early to eat hay. We have hut one piece of advice now for you—please remember it in the feeding and rearing the calf. lie patient and keep your temper. It is an easy matter to spoil the calf phy-ically, and make it ill-natured by maltreatment when young—it is quite as susceptible ns your own child. Remember, it is better to feed the call too Uitle than to much.— Caution—Do not allow a poor milker to touch a cow. Hire another man, or do the milking your-
self.
Large Breed of Hogs. The Hog stock of the West requires amendment. It may be tvell enough for towns people and amateurs, to supply themselves with Suffolks, Kssex, and other like quick growing small breeds, but the solid farmers, who-have corn and clover pasture by the hundreds of acres, de sire something that will tell better in the scales. There are a good many local sorts of hogs, that have been well bred, in particular neighborhoods, Hildas far as they go, are ns good as need be. Capital specimens of these we have seen and heard of in Huron,Greene,Warren, Adams, and eisr win re, generally taking name from the persons who produce them; but while the Hog stock is the most profitable, quick turning, of all our animal products there is no acknowledged ruling breed which men lock to as a standard, and we do not know that this is any way essential, if they only get some of the sorts that are right. Of all the modern made up breeds, those known as the “Chester County Hogs,” seem to come nearest to being clnssed as a distinct breed. This oreed has been forming in Chester Co., Pennsyl vania, for more tuau thirty years, building upon a favorite pair of hogs imported from England — They are long bodied, square built, tine boned, and in color pure white, average weight at 16 or 18 months old 500 to 600 lbs. — Ohio Cultlra

It is a very beautiful festival, the services being historical in character, and the manner of commemoration—the eating of the Malta, or leaven bread—harotzas, the bitter herb, together with other ceremonies and symbyls illustrative of the departure of Moses aud the Children of Israel from Pharoah’s dominions, their passage of the Red Sea, their wanderings in the wilderness, are all very interesting and peculiar. While upon the subject of this festival, we enn not refrain from remarking the rapid progress, the “peculiar people of God” but long persecuted and proscribed of men, are making towards the regaining of their former elevated rank among the nations of the earth. True, as a nation de facto, they no longer exist, but as a nation de jure they still hold together, scattered broadcast over the world as they are, having survived the wreck of empires, the fall of thrones and the crash oi worlds, (culr; Noah and the Flood.) Their great wealth, extraordinary genios, and peculiar talents, have acquired for them once more the “high places” among the nations, and we find now conspicuous among the sovereigns of Europe, the RothchiIds, whose wealth controls the destinies of half the Empires of the Globe, while their wonderful success, springing from the poorest of their sect, challenge the admirafion of
the world.
