Mo hoc racy in Boone County.—We learn from the Boone County Pioneer that on Tuesday night of last week a gang of fellows, with blackened faces, proceeded to the house of Patrick Powers, an Irishman, at Thomtown, and, knocking at the door, demanded admittance. Mr. P. with his wife and child was in bed, and just as he was getting up to admit the intruders, the door was burst open and the villains rushed in, armed with clubs and other weapons. A shower of stones and missiles were thrown at the bed, but Mrs. Powers grasped her child and hid herself under the bed, otherwise she would have been severely iqjured. The gang now surrounded Powers, who had been badly wounded, though offering rtb resistance, and with pistols and knives pointed at him, demanded the key to his cellar. This was given to them, when the miscreants descended and knocked out the heads of sundry barrels (of liquor we suppose) and spilled the contents on the ground. Alter breaking up the furniture of the house and giving Powers a further beating the mobocrats retired. The scoundrels who perpetrated this gross outrage are said to he member* of a temperance society, and were instigated thereto by the preachers stationed at Thomtown. Their faces being blackened it is very difficult to detect them, but it is to be hoped the imrglars will yet meet their just deserts.—N. A. Ledger.

Cmmstmck and Brother’s Medicines—No Cure Alls.—The world has long suffered from the imposition of quackery. Ignorant pretenders and charlatans have assumed to cure all manner of diseases with some Universal Panacea—“ Hygean Elixer,”— Indian Vegetable Specific,”—“ My Grandmother’s Pills,” Ac., Ac.; and with bombastic advertisements and flaming certificates, they have induced the.unsuspecting and credulous to buy and use their “ intoiiabie remedies,’'—often to 'he serious detriment of health, and sometimes even to life. Cheapness and infalible cures have been strong arguments. “ The Almighty Dollar ” prevails—the appeal to the pocket is irresistahle—until it is too late perhaps, even for the Doctor, with all his science and skill, to save the life of the poor deluded sufferer. To rid the people of this proliflic source of imposition and injury, we wish, through this paper, to introduce to the public, not a cure all, but an assortment of Medicines, prepared for family use, and comprising a different and specific remedy, for each class of diseases. Our medicines are the Cherry and Lungwort, for coughs, colds, Turhish Balm, Hair Gloss, Piles, Ac., call and get an almanac. Agents for Indianapolis—Jas. Kirian, 9. MoMillen. aprl3-dAwlw.
IX SXmres you ia tke Face—and all should know that Dr. Easteriey’s Iodine and Sarsaparilla will cure all diseases arising from an impure state of the blood, vix : Scrofula, old Sores and Tetter, Ac. Dr. Carter’s Congh Balsam will cure Coughs, Colds, Asthma, Consumption and all affections of the Throat, Che* and Lungs. Dr. Easterly’s Fever and Ague Killer will cure Ague and Fever in eighteen hours after taken. There is no mistake about it. Dr. Hooper’s Female Cordial will cure all Female Complaints or irregularity of the monthly Periods. Dr. Baker’s Specific will cure all disases of the Genital Organs in a few days—it is the be* remedy in the world for diseases of the Kidneys. The afflicted are advised to read the advertisement of each of these medicines in another column of this paper. They are sold by TOMLINSON A COX, Agents for Indianapolis. mch28-dAwlm.
Holloway’s Pills—They Never FailOther remedies may relieve pain, but these Pills expel disease. They cleans the blood, remove obstructions from the bowels, invigorate the digestion, calm the nerves, and renovate the constitution. Important to Females. — Dr. Chcebexax's Pnxs. — The combinations of ingredients in these Pills is the result of a long and extensive practice; they are mild in their operation, and certain of restoring nature to its proper channel. In every instance have the Pills proved successful. The Pills invariably open those obstructions to which females are liable, and bring nature' into its proper channel, whereby health is restored, and the pale and deathly countenance changed to a healthy one. No female can enjoy good health unless she is regular; and whenever an obstruction takes place, whether from exposure, cold, or any other cause, the general health immediately begins to decline, and the want of such a remedy has been the cause of so many consumptions among young females. Headache, Pain in the Side, Palpitation of the Heart, Loathing of Food and ffirtnrbed Sleep, do mo* always arise from the interruption of nature; and whenever that is the case the Pills will invariably remedy all these evils. Nor are they less efficacious in the cure of Leucorbcea, commonly called the “Whites.” These Pills should never be taken during pregnancy, as they would be sure to cause a miscarriage. Warranted purely vegetable, and free from anything injurious to life or health. Full and explicit directions accompa-
nying each box.
These Pills are put up in square, flat boxes. Persons residing where there is no agency established, by enclosing One Dollar in a letter, pre-paid, to Dr. C. L. Kansas Affairs.—Tfae Cfaima Mails. Washington, March 31.—Instructions to Gov. Walker of Kansas, ore full, clear and explicit, and in them are quoted the exact words of Mr. Buch-
anan’s Inaugural, viz:
It is the indispensable duty of the government to secure to every resident inhabitant a free and independent expression of his opinion by his vote. In this the Cabinet cordially concur. They and those who are shortly to administer the affairs of Kansas believe there is nothing to prevent such a result in the adoption of a State Constitution, as the lative Assembly at their last session repealed portion of the election laws which required a chal lenged voter to take an oath to support the Fugi
tive Slave law.
Gentlemen who have made inquiry relative to this subject have been assured that the administra tration of Gov. Walker will endeavor to carry out their promise in good faith, being fully impressed
with die importance of the result.
Notice has been given by the British Post Office

tion with China in connection with the Overland
mails.
The mails for China will, accordingly, be made up at the London Postoffice on the 20th and 25th, as well as on the 4th and 10th of each month.
