We know nothing for or seat net tto Reformed Presbyterian Church. We never saw tto Rev. Mr. Kennedy and never expect to. But we do think that tto above i» about tto nicest specimen of theological hair-splitting we ever heard of. What difference could it make, we should like to know, whether tto Rev. Mr. Kennedy read a hymn from Rouee’s, or Watts', or Smith's, or biggins' version— provided it contained nothing irreligious or immor»l, and that is not charged against the Reverend individual. The fact ie, the world is getting heartily tired of these petty ministerial musses—-this eternal dispute about tweedledum and tweedledee—these protracted controversies about non-essentials which every church in Christendom is waging with such relentless vigor. This nineteenth century is an age of progress and liberalism iu politics, social science and religion. It i* an age of practieal, sturdy thought. It can no longer brook the fine spun quibbles which religious warriors used to bandy at each other in ponderous folioe. ft asks—What doe# all this mean?—what are you driving at?—what real good do yon expect to attain?—how we you helping mankind in their toilsome struggle for self-improvement?
