It is an universally appreciated truth that the general run of grocery stores keep the most worthless cigare that are manufactured. The grocers are imposed upon by drummers who palm off on them a cheap smoking articte aud charge first-class prices for it. One of this class of business men related a rather amusing incident in this connection to a New* reporter. "A few weeks ago," said he, a drummer from Cincinnati came into mv store and asked me to lay iu a few cigars of a certain brand thai he was carrying. 1 didn't need any cigars just then and tried to get rid of the fellow, but it was no go. Tie insisted that the cigars would be exactlv like the sample (which was' very gocxl) and he offered me a bargain. I finally agreed to take a thousand and he deiwirted. In a few days my smokers arrived, l.'pou investigation I found them to be an inferior article and immediately set alout to invent a scheme whereby I might get even with the Cincinnati fiend. I could think of no plan of retaliation just then and concluded to bide my time. Finally the same drummer came aronnd again. I declined to nnrchase, however, and after giving me his regulation "song' he went away, leaving his sample cases in my possession to be held tor him until he should return, which he expected to do within* a iev, minutes.] As soon as he«was gone all mv employes3
