RAILROAD INTELLIGENCE.

The Vandalia "Limited," due here at 9 o'clock, was late over an hour to-day.^ Joho Jahrriea, of the Van. paint shop, is off duty to-day on account of sickness.

A great many of the employes of the Van shops "cut" yesterday and took in the game.

Switchman Clark, of the E. "M T. IJ has resignetl his position with that plmiu and gone to work in the Van. yards., "V

Special car 27 was sent out for St, Louis this morning. Colonel Hill, of the Van., probably intends to make a trip.

A1 Higert, of the Van machine shop, has resigned. He went to Greencastle to-day and will leave for Sedalia, Mo., soon.

Frank Moorhead and Jack Sauere, of the Van machine shop, go to Brazil this afternoon to go to work on branch engine No. 29.

The next harvest excursion over all roads out of here, leaves next Tuesday. Destination: All points north, northwest and southwest.

John Lauderback, who has 1eeii quite seriously ill, is able to work once more. He will be found at his post in the Van machine shop after Monday.

David Field, colored, has chartered a train and will have an excursion over the T. H. & P., to Peoria, 111., to-morrow. Train leaves Union depot at 5 o'clock a. m.

C. & E. I. passenger train due here at 6 o'clock this morning, did not arrive until several hours later. It was delayed by the wrecked freiget train and washout near Hillsdale. ^.

All the railroads are having a rush of business at this time, and the volume is rather on the increase than otherwise. The Big Four and E. & T. H. roads report that their freight and passenger business compares very favorably wich preceding years. *-n»
