ased upon the beautiful quarters that shall henoeforth occupy. And. indeed. they are beautiful the upholstering, the decorations and general appearance of th/e apartments being magnificent. Although the weather was all that was not desirable, yet the handsome hall was comfortably filled by spectators and members of the order. The dedication cermonies were conducted by Past Grand Representative, J. W. ORATION OF THE EVBirmo
was delivered by B. F. Foster, of Indianapolis. The address of this gentleman was truly eloquent, and the
DAILY NEWS
wculd like to place it all before its readers, but Mr. Foster stated that the oration had been delivered at the dedication of every Lodge for the past five years, and he merely wanted a'general comment published. Mr. Foster detailed at length the history of Odd Fellowship, from the days of Rome to the present time defending its principles, and giving biographies of its most prominent members. He also had a good word for the ladies telling them the Lodge in no way interfered wfth their matrimonial projects, and that if all the Odd Fellows who are in "maiden meditation fancy free," would take his advice, they would immediately "have her in the spring." and for the future go in double harness At the conclusion of this speech, the choir executed some beautiful music, after which Col. Wm. McLean read a speech from manuscript which we have not space to publish.. After the exercises were concluded, a portion of the audience spent some time in social conversation, and promenading about the rooms. The hall, as everyone knows, is located in McKeen's new block on Main St., between 6th and 7th, and is an honor to any Lodge in the world.
wishes its projectors
and members all the happiness possible, and hope that the dedication of last night will be an event long to be remembered.
