evening last, Messrs. Davidsoti, aUoroeyn for Captain James Park, late county attorney, filed in the Clerk'* office a suit against John S. and George B. Williamsy of the trunday Time*, claiming damage® in the sum of 20,000. The article com plained of &p{»eared in an editorial of that paper on the ltfth iiist., and the paragraph on which the suit filed is as follows, which i« »et up in the complaint: (Iteferring to. Uie present county attorney, Everett.) "He seems to realize the fact that he is the attorney of the taxpayers, and not of the county officers. Captain Park took the other riew of it, He acted as the attorney for the County officer*,and against the taxpayers in nearly every instance vrheti hi* opinion was required. The laborer is worthy of his hire, and it may be that the County officers paid better than the County."

derstood that the officers of the army who have distinguished themselves by signal service in the wa& with the Indians will soon secure the reward for which they have sto£i fire from time to time. What they have been after is to have the President nominate to brevet ranks those officers who have distinguished themselves in the fights with the Indians. It is understood that the President will do this, and thus, if the Senate consents, confer an honor, even if any empty one, upon the Indian fighters. It is thought the Senate would confirm these brevet nominations

LONDON, December 26.— The Sixth dragoons will be sent to Natal from Eng land, in response to the call of the commandant at Durban.
DURBAN, December 26.—The Boers fired on a detachment on the Pretoria and Lydenburg road under cover of a flag of truce. At Potchefstrom the greatest excitement prevails. Pour* persons have been murdered.
LONDON, December 37.—A correspond ent at Durban reports that the wagons which the detachment of the Ninetyfourth regiment was in charge of, got into a swamp, and all hands laid aside their arms to extricate them. The Boers sud denly appeared and demanded their sur render. The soldiors rushed for their arras, but before they were able to defend themselves they were shot down.
While a Boer was attempting to hoist a republican flag at Patcbersroona, he was shot by British officer, whom the Boers immediately shot dead.
The four persons reported to have been murdered at Patchefstroona wu a commandant of the Capfi mounted police 'and three civilians. They were brutally murdered in the midst of an assembly of 3,000 Boers.
The driver of a post-cart was murdered .and a mail-bag carried off. Another report says the Boers were shelled at Patchefstroona and a hundred killed aud many wounded.
Arrangements are being made at Woolwich for sending supplies to the Cape. A Durban dispatch reports that the Boers have given notice that they will seize a certain town on a specified dlay.
