A Louisville girl had a model of her foot carved in marble and presented to her lover for a papc-r weight, and not many other girls have adopted the same means Of showing their affection for friends. A St. Louis girl had a model of her foot sent to a widower who was sweet on her. Amateur Battle.
A couple of youths on their way to the ri^er to skate, became angry at each other while passing through Johns' lumber yard, on Water street yesterday, aud lively tussle followed. One of the boys named Rogers, was about seventeen years old and the other boy, named Charlye Snyder, was about fourteen. A crowd of urchins and river loafers soon gathered about and different parties began to take opposite sides, and a regular mob fight mtght have ensued bad not some
We are bound to my that the talent secured by the Uncle Toil's company in thift city to ftss|$t in the performance last Saturday night was tho only,,redeem ing feature Of the evening* had It wot ended in the shadow of an approach to tragedy. It seems a couple of the colored youths who represented slaves, were somewhat stage struck, and later in the evening attempted to set themselves up as tragedians. Two of the colored gentlemen took their girls upon the stage, and in dancing at the scene of the auction sale, one of the amateur actors got hold of the wrong gal and rushed her about in the "dizzie waltz"' quite lively, while her fellow was forced to see his beloved in the fond embrace of another, and before a public Audience. It was more than he could well keep within the bounds of his heart, «n^ and at the close of the performance the offended lover met the offender at the foot of the steps of the Opera House and administered a dose of his ruffled pas sion. Pierson was in town a short time Saturday, but he did not give himself up to justice. The fact is, he was not the richt Pierson. About four o'clock Saturday evenlne. Taylor Pierson, township trustee of-tin.- township which bears his name, stepped into the office, of Col. Cookerly, on Wall street, and was addressed by several persons standing about, by his sir name. Some excited individual, wishing to be first to impart the information, slipped out of the presence of the man whom he supposed to be the desperado and be gan to circulate the news, "Pierson is down in 'Squire Cookerly's oflice." The truthful expression Of the face and the seared look of the countenance was suftl cient testimony, and a large crowd flocked in that direction, and for a while the oflice of the magistrate very much resembled the ticket wagon of Barnum's circus. All went away satisfied that if they could obtain an interview with their informer they would certainly present an impress* ive argument. .. aaaL'-aajm.. m,. ..-i yijsiit.

LAMB'S SLATE.
J, O. Blaine, Secretary of State, B. N. Hudson, Vigo Collectorship —Jos. O,^.^
Jones, Post *r Master.
Hon, John E. Lamb arrived from Wash ington* D. C., this morning about seven o'clock, and before he had been in town fifteen minutes, he had raised a pcrfect gale of excitement.Jmen wereaeenjrunning to and fro. with extended nostrils and glaring eyes, taking hold of whomsoever he chanced to meet, and with excited nervousness, jerk his friend into an open doorway, or through a pair of green screens, or down a cellarpit* and with bated breath whisper into the eaV important* the information —"John Lamb has come ba from Washington, and he has been behind the curtains down there and what do you suppose he learned while there?" The friend with eyes bursting from tbeir sock ets in astonishment, can't guess "why? Lamb found out all about who is to be the next Secretary of State, under the incom ing adminislrati6n, and his name is Jas G. Blnine, and what do you think of that? He also knows who will be Collector of the Internal Revenue of this district will be R. N. Hudson, the original Garfield man Jos. O. Jones is to be the next Post Master of this town." After this in formation was communicated the friends would embrnce, and then take heart rending adieus, and pass on to enact similar scenes. The public pulse run? very high among politicians, and all sorts of coup de tats will be attempted by the other fellows.
PARIMEXXE.
About nine o'clock this morning woman, appearantly fifty years of age named Miss Rogers accompanied by two small children met officers Miller and St. Johns on the street and told them that she was in search of daughter about sixteen years old who had run away from her home in Paris. She said that the girl wis in this city some where, and described her daughter to the officers who set to work and traced her to the old Buntin House, now kept by Mrs Stunkard where they found her living with a man named Wm. Bantsen an employee of the Gas works aged about twenty five years. When the officers took the girl in charge the fellow said that he had met her on the street and seeing that she was going to ruin he had taken pity on her and offered to board her which proposition was most agreeable received by the young lady.
Bantaon appears to be a hard-working and steady sort of a fellow, and desired to marry the girl, who was anxious to marry him. but the mother would not tolerate any such arrangement. She took posses sion of her daughter and marched her home to the little Parisian town across the Wabash, where she must finish lier education.
