—The bridge across" the ba3rou, just west of the Main street bridge,' is now complete. Farmers living northeast of the city will fully appreciate this improvement, and take early advantage of the same.

—Now for the facts. No meeting was held at Robertson's school house. The Grange was in session there that evening and refused to let the Reps have it, so they adjourned to Fear's saw mill. There were thirty-five on hand. E. T). Seldomridsje was called for but would not speak. ••Dick" Morgan tried to talk, but the audience yelled for Hancock and gave him terrific cat-calls, "you're a liar, and so forth.—Ledger.
The writer of this was there and can say that there was about 125 gentlemen and ladies present. Ed Seldomridge spoke about twenty minutes and tlien introduced Dick Morgan, who spoke for one hour. There was one callow youth about nfteen years old who screamed for Hancock three or four times. Only this and nothing more.
That very able and funny article in last Sunday's Express entitled "Hugging iu the Park." was not the work of the massive brain power concentrated in that establishment, although.it was intended that the public should think ii was. The articlc was taken bodily from Peck's Milwaukee Sun, and two or three words so changed so as to give it a local' applica tion here.— To day'# Courier.
The massive brain producing the above extract is worthy of great credit, and wo put him "away up" and assign him to the exalted "posish" of being most original.

Tanner.
NEW YORK, August 0.—Although as merry as a cricket this morning, Dr. Tan ner passed a restless and sleepless night. He was in pain most of the time from nauseated stomach, and once he had an attack which was thought at one time might, prove too much for his enfeebled state to successfully withstand.
Three of the United States Medical Col lege physicians went ou watch at mid night. They fouud the faster stretched at full length on his cot, wide awake and quite talkative. His stomach was evident ly in a verv delicate state, for as Mh watchers changed the position of his cot, he was attacked with nausea and vomiting. This continued for some time, with fits of violent retching, until the fasting man was rendered so weak aud exhausted as hardly to be able to hold up his head. His nerves beenmo unstrung, and the beating of his heart was greatly accelerated from the extra exertion. A deadly pallor overspread his sallow features, and a cold, clammy ,$weat broke out on his brow.
His watchers became alarmed at these symptoms of great internal suffering, and feared the doctor had reached the climax of his sulTorin^s. They crowded about his cot withanxicty depicted on their features, and stood ready to render all the aid in their power. Even the faster's courage seemed to'forsake him, as he failed to ol tain relief, and he asked in a faint voice that his breathing be closely watched. His attendants, thinking something ought te be done to relieve him, began to rub his stomach and lower extremities. The operation seemed to have the desired effect, for Dr. Tanner in a few minutes said he felt much belter. A short time afterward he lay on his back on his couch again, juid about one o'clock fell asleep. This slumber was not very sound, for he awoke Agam *n
