This I deemed ample precaution, since the auger of the burfctaif, after penetrating the woodwork, wouTd be resisted by the iron backing. The front door of my house is not composed of iron, but on the contrary it is of wood. Don Cameron Mtlil in the Field. Washington, July 15.—For two weeks almost daily letters have been received from the people of Sulphur Springs, containing most ominous intelligence as to the state of Senator Don Cameron's health. It culminated yesterday by his father going to see what was the truth of the matter. Right on the heels of all this Don Cameron himself appeared in Washington to day on his way to Hamsburg. In order to settle the matter if possible by direct information, a correspondent called on him at Wormley's. He was looking no worse than when Congress adjourned. He said that he had indeed been out of health, and had been obliged to go to the Springs and abandon all business or anybut he never reht his and needlessly alarmed. He felt so far improved that he should return to his usual vocations of life. He was in high spirits as to the political outlook. He field that Garfield and Arthur would be elected as a matter of course. As to there being any doubt about Pennsylvania, that was all nonsense.
