to-night ar
rested George Spragg and Charles Robertson, of this city, for participating in the election riot and driving colored legal voters from the polls on April 5. Loc Amsden, county treasurer, who was lead er of the gang, learned of the indictments against the participators, end doubtless realizing thai he was guilty of a grave misdemeanor, weut to Indianapolis to-day and gave the required bond. He had several motives in doing this, the leading of which was that it would strengthen his chances for renomination for the office which he is now holding. It places him before the Democracy of "Old Shelby" as a martyr, and his nomination is now assured. ______

specimen Criminal Trial.
PARIS, May 20.—A somewhat sensational tr al, which throws a good deal of light on the social condition of Southern France, is- just now occupying the attention of the Courts in the city of Aix. The facts are as follows: A man named Cazilic, and his mistress, Anuis Caillol, are accusedibf the murder of the husband of the latter, and of her brother-in-law, of whom were sQme time ago burned to death in a lonely hut. The accused woman, who is a perfect virago, openly boasts that the whole male population, with the exception of three, are lovers of hers, and to confirm the statement she has with cynical assurance num?erei them among her witnesses. The supposition is that Cazalic committed tho double murder at the instigation of fain mistress. He. however, denies that lvo is guilty. One of Anals witnesses who was asked whether he would feel any emotion if his wife had been burned to death, replied in such an uncertain tone that the Court was convulaetl with laughter. The trial has been dis turbed throughout by the unseemly belia vior of the female prisoner. The trial continues. But this by no means ex hausts tbe criminal calendar. We havr bad within as many days, in different parts of tbe country, no less than three trials for parricide.
SENSATIONAL CASE.
But perhaps the greatest criminal sensation of ail is that which has just come to light in tbe little town of Baintea, where a lady, Mme. de T., moving in tbe highest society circles, has just been arrested on tbe charge of having blinded with sulphuric add ft young and charm ing girl, whom she supposed was hear rival in the ejections of her husband. The victim's life is beHered to lie in danger. Mme. de T., has made two attempts at suicide since her arrest.
Seeds should be planted in the sprfqgr. Several years of experience have conclusively proven that seeds planted in tbe fan arc certain to have the mumps be font? January. Ffve dollars worth of moflsw er seeds will produce shade for st least twelve cats nd aa old hen. Sunflowers can't be trained to climb up the side of a houae, but neither can an elephant. Therefor# by lasting sunflowers yws avoid planting elephants.
