•-•All colored Republicans should turn out to-night at the meeting of the Colored Republican Club. Everybody is invited, Don* fail to attend.
»-B. V. Marshall received a check from Mr. Thomas, of Baltimore, a few days ago calling for about $8,000, the wherewith to pay off the incumbrance against the McDonald property, on South Sixth street- This will be a serious disappointment to some persons, who were expecting to get the property for a mere song, in consequence of the incumbrance.
•-•Spring is nutting In an appearance in earnest, and the maples, lilacs and other early trees and bushes are putting out their leaves. Violets, japonieas, spireas and other early flowering plants and shrubs have appeared. The chirp of birds and the hum of bees make the air vocal.—Kxpre»* thin morning.
And the wail of the Democratic party, and the fact that Joe Cook is coming. Let us have it all brethren.
•The Ladies' Aid Society desires to acknowledge the receipt of two hundred dollars, aud some valuable goods from Mr. Luther G. Hager, being part of the net proceeds of the entertainment given in its interest and to return to Mr. linger and those associated with him. the hearty and sincere thanks of the Society for their great and successful efforts in its behalf.

To-day a widow applied to a claim agent in this place to have him make an application for a pension, upon which, if het statement is correct, she will ob tain about $2,000. She has a singular history. She was a twin sister, and was married at the age of thirteen. In 1883 she gave birth to twins in 1886 three boys were born to her at the same time, and in 1861 she again had twins, and what is more remarkable in 1879. May 8d, two of the triplets died at the same time, and on August 15, 1870, the youngest two twins died at the same time, from overwork in a harvest field. Her husband was wounded and died in a hospital a* Gallatin, Tcnn., in 1862. She deserves a pension, and has employed a first-class agent to obtain it.

The following somewhat simple puzzle has been furnished by a gentleman of the First ward: -R--R-
-D--D-
The object of the puzzle is to place three articles of a kind on the lines "R," and three of a kind on the "D" lines, with a blank line between. Take, for instance, silver dimes and one cent pieces, place the dimes on the "R" lines, and the cent pieces on the "Ds," now change the cent pieces to the "R" lines, and vice versa# by advancing directly forward, cither moving to the next unoccupied Une, or jumping a coin over one another (and only one at a time) of the opposite kind. Continue until the dimes and the cents have changed places and are in regular order one above the other. There can be no retreating, the moves must all be made forward.
