HughWilsoh Porter was born in Manon o uuty, Ohio. January 30, 1845 auU departed tnis life, at his home in Rensselaer, Indiana, November 11, 1898 Jged 53 y ars, 9 months and 11 days. He removed to Ja per county perms next y in 1867, where ha resided the firt-i save years with his brother, J C. Porter He as married to Rebecca J. Brown, of this county, Nove ber 23 18 3, to whom he was a devoted and loving husband for 25 years, lacking but 12 d ys. He united with the Presb terian church in 1867; was also a member of the Inde--1 endent Order of Odd Fellows for nearly 15 years. He served his country during the Morpan raid through Indiana and Ohio. He served as Township Assessor for ten years. There survive him his faith Jul wife, one brother and two sisters to mourn his loss. The funeral was held at the residence Sunday afternoon by Rev. C. D Jefiries and Eider N. H Sheppard. The Odd Fellows had charge of the buriaj exercises. IntermejjjHn Weston cemetery.
