John Gwin has returned from his visit to Wisconsin. A sunstroke prostrated Patrick Httlagan one day last week. Mrs. C. E. Powell is visiting relatives iD Illinois. Monday evening last J. F. Wah lick outlined a plan before the council for a proposed park system to cost about SIO,OOO. His plan is to buy a tract of land down the river, a ehort distance from the city, aud construct an artificial lake of 10 aores to connect with the river, the river to be dredged to the creamery bridge, where fa boat landin - will bo made and small passenger steamerd placed in the-river to carry passengers to and from the park, whexe boats will pLy in the lake. Trees in the park wo’d furnish shade for pleasure seekers- Mr. W. suggests that a stock company be foimed with a capital of SIO,OOO, he to put in $5,000; other members of the com - pany tfie balance; theoity to assist in blowing out the rock in the river. The plan is feasible and was referred to the committee on public property.
