Why should the money lenders want general prosperity in this country? The misfortunes of the masses makes It possible for them to lend their money at high rates of interest. When money is easy their business languishes. Had this country not been plunged into debt by the Cleveland administration It would not have been possible for a syndicate of Wall street money kings to lend the government an immense sum of money at a ruinous rate of in--terest.
