Life Sacrificed in Madagascar.
The “butcher’s bill,” ns the London Court Journal calls the war mortality, of the French in Madagascar, is put down at considerably more than four thousand lives. Among the rank and file the deaths are said to have amounted to upward of 4320, and rather more than 2000 wounded and Invalids have been, or are to be, sent home. Nearly a thousand African carriers died as well, so that in all the number of deaths that have resulted from the operations in the island are over 5000.
