Pledged to Reduce Taxation.

The late Democratic City Convention appointed a committee to draft and publish reso’utions expressing its sense with reference to the necessity of reducing taxation. The committee present the following to which the candidates are pledged: Recogi izing the fact that all taxation must be derived from property and privileges and that the best interests of the inhabitants of this city will be conserved by reducing experditures for all purposes to the lowest possible limit eons stent with the development of a healthy growth and an enlargement of necessary public improvements; That in the event of the election of its candidates we pledge each and all of them to use their best efforts to secure the largest possible reduction in rates of taxation for city purposes; We pledge that the salaries of the city officers shall not be in*, creased over those received by the olliceis ot the Town Corporation.
