THE STATE’S FINANCES.

Debt Reduced Over $400,000 This Year and $300,000 Will Be Paid Next March. The good results of the new tax law coupled with the sinking fund levy provided by the last Demo cratic legislature, are shown in the rapid reduction of the state debt. The state debt has been reduced $400,000 this year. This will be bhown by Au litor Daily’s report, which will be in the hands cf the printer in a few days. During the year bonds to the amountof sl,085,000 were refunded at a re ducel rat of interest, and $27,000 ui premiums was saved. Next March $300,000 of bonds will be due, and it is intended to retire them. The total foreign debt of the state is about $7,000,000. TLe next legislature will be asked to increase the sinking fund levy, so the debt can be canceled more rap* idly.
