Paid for Neglecting a Warning.

On a cage containing a handsome pair of young golden eagles, which a storekeeper in Brooklyn has put outside his store to attract attention to his business, is a big sign bearing this inscription: “Hands off! Beware! You remember England's fate; then take warning and don’t monkey with the bird of freedom." The sign is principally Intended to persuade inquisitive people not to stir up the birds with lead pencils and umbrella sticks, but not a few have refused to heed the warning and are now nursing lacerated fingers which they got in connection wftyi an object lesson on the events of ’76.
