Was Misunderstood.

A professor who visited the Russian town of Vitebsk for the purpose of making anthropometroc studies of the local inhabitants narrowly escaped with his life. The measurment of the heads gave rise to the conviction that he was the evil one in person affixing his seal to their foreheads, and the more courageous among them resolved to attack him and, if possible, to deatroy him. Fortunately the Ispravnik of the district prevented the infuriated peasants from carrying out their intentions.
