Paper Carpets.
Wo have had a groat variety of carpet materials, first and last, and a good many uses liavo been nmdo of paper, but the two hnvo never before been identified. Now, however, wo are informed that carpets aro being made of paper, and tho following description of tho process is mado public : Tho stock used must bo of long fiber, in ordor to givo strength to tho paper. Ail such as are to ho colored must be dyed in tho pulp to obtain uniform color throughout. Colors must bo fast. Every lot of tho same color must match to siiado, as it cannot be changed whon once done. The paper must bo of uniform thickness throughout tho width and length of the roll, for, though color may bo right, coarse yarn will not shade alike. As tho yarn Is twlstod on a ring frame, tho utmost cleanliness must lie observed not to stain the yarn with oil or dirty fingers, for, while unlike tho othor yarn, it is not cleansed, hence, if dirty, and is not discovered by consequent handling, it goes into tho enrpot and to tho consumer. When rolls of cut papor are tho desired height, the shaft is takon out, tho knot removed and the shaft drawn out, leaving the papor, each strip with its ring to be separated from the othor by a knifo for that purpose. After separation these little rolls aro soaked In water until thoroughly impregnated, then takon out and left to drain, whonitis ready for the spinning frame, and it is twisted lijje anjf other yarn. Tho yftfnis then dried, wound into cops and is then ready for the loom,—' [Paper World.
