Trading in Crowns.
A manufacturing concern in Birmingham drives something of a trade in crowns. They are real ones, of sol’d gold, with cap of crimson velvet, incrustations of garfiet, topaz, and various kinds of cheap but showy stones, and are supplied to the kings of Africa in return for ivory and other merchandise. The| time has gone by when an ancient top hat, adorned with turkey feathers, sufficed to impart a halo of magnificence to Ethiopian royalty. No room for doubt—the recitationroom.—Yale Record.
