Influence of Rabbit Flesh.
In mediaeval ages the flesh of the hare was believed to induce melancholy in the mind of the eater. When Falstaff is complaining to Prince Henry of melancholv, Shakespeare makes him say, “What sayest thou to hare?” on th* principle that like cures like. There is a phrase, “mad as a March hare.” Hares are wild and unruly iit that month; hence the aphorism. “Harebrained” is ascribed to the same cause. Like the rat, the hare or rabbit, has a smooth brain, and consequently does not show a high development ol mental power.—[Detroit Free Press. Most people have lorgotten that Mrs. Job* A.
