Explaining a Natural Wonder.

The presence of fish in the higher mountain ■ lakes has been explained in some cases. It is well known that water fowls will distribute yellow perch by carrying the sticky eggs on their feet. Trout will go anywhere there is water enough to float a chip, and pickerel get moved about from place to place the same as perch do, but bass do not become distributed except through man’s handiwork, or by goiDg up a water course deepenough to swim.—[Pittsbur« Dispatch.
