Then follows the certificate of the Cle t k of the Jasper Circuit Court, certifying that the petitioners are known o him, an . that they are citizens and voters of.gooi? standing, attesced.by James F. Irwin, Deputy, and this ig followed ty the certificate of Noble C. Butler, Clerk of the Circuit Couri of the United Slates certifying to the filing of the above application for Supervisors of Election. Tne action of these republican petioners is not only a confession of weakness, hut it is a reflection upon the veters of Jasper county. Jasper county- he etofo regarded over the Stu e as the republican Giberalter—requiring the piesence of U. S Supervisors of Election to guarantee to Republicans “au honest election and afai r count”? Absurd! Under ihe ciicum-. stances to be foiewarned is to be forearmed! Let Democrats be on the alert. The demand for Supervisors of Election on the part ot the opposition, is for other purposes than to secure “an honest ballot and a fair count." Let Democrats stand firm! Permit no intimidation to interfere with your rights an i duties!
