RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED BY THE TENTH CONGRESSIONAL DIST. DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION.
Resolved, That the Democratic party of the Tenth Congressional district, in convention assembled, extend hearty sym. pathy to the men looked out at the Carnegie mills, and we pledge the nominee of this convention, if eleoted, to vote and work to pass a law against employing Pinkerton deteotives, and to revise the Republican taritf which makes possibii the condition now existing at Homestead. The Demon, acy of the Tenth congressional district, in delegate convention assembled, do endorse and reoommend to the people the declaration of principles enunoiated by the Democratic national convention at Chicago on June 21st, as a fail embodiment of the political doctrine of onr party We also endorse the national and state candidates for the suffrages of the people, nominated st Chicago and Indianapolis. We would farther emphasize those principles, that we have full confidence in the judgment of the people, who so signally endorsed them two years ago, that they will next November speak, in terms that cannot be misunderstood, that the high protectionists favored by the tariff laws enacted by the Republican party for their special advantage, oannot enslave by their autocratic edict the thousands of laboring men who have, by their integrity and toil, made the products of their labor so profitable to manufacturers like the Carnegies, and be turned ont of their employment and|their places filled by foreign labor, or be compelled to aocept the terms of i educed wages. High protection seoures high prices through the power of oombinesjand trusts, while wages go down, and we submit the history of the last twelve months in proof of this fact. OAmerican labor has been compelled to resort to Intelligent organization to prevent total annihilation from the mills, factories and shops by the protected classes who .have been so highly favorrd by the Republican party in congress for a quarter of a century. Capital has sought to degrade labor and wring from theswet and toil of therlaboring | lass|obedience to its inordinate dema ds, and not content with large profits and minimum fortunes, it seeks to reduce the wapex ol workmen in order to more systematic lly and effectually rob the consumers; all this under the wise, prudent and beneficent McKinlev bill, whose author assured the people the bill would prove a blessing to the laboring men. The high protectionist relying on the ur. mv and navy of the United States, state mi'itia and the Pinkerton brigade propose to enforce the decree. Shyloek proposed to take the last pound of flesh, and compal the thouear.de of wage men to accept a reduction of wages, or be 1 Hiked out—and eo held until want, squalor and mis--1 ery compelled a surrender.
We demand that all controversies arising between the capitalist and laboring men be determined and settled by a eoirn of arbitration, and its deoree enforced by authority of law. We demand that a rigid economy be practiced in the appropriations for exnenses of government, and that onr party may tata high ground on the declaration, “that a publio office is a pnblio trust," and that the use of federal patronage toperSetuato a party in power ispernioiousaad augeroms to good government. We believe that the friends of an administration can best be relied on for harmony and political sucoess, and not those who have fought to seoure its defeat. The only plaoe to get Henderson's Boots and Shoes, is at I. J. Porter's. These figures represent the number of bottles of Dr. King’s New Discovery f.w Consumption, Coughs and Colds, which were sold in the United States from March ’9l to March, 92. Two Million, Two Hundred and Twenty-Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and Seventy-Two bottlessoldih one year, and eaoh and every bottle was sold on a positive guarantee that money would be refunded if satisfactory results did not follow its use. The secret of its sucoess is plain. It never disappoints and can always be depended on as the very best remedy for Coughs, Colds, eta, Price 500. and SI.OO. At P. B. Meyera’ Drugstore.
