Ullman, of New Bedford, Mass. The wire rope used In the tunnel at Glasgow, Scotland, is the largest'and longest wire cable in the world. It was made at Cardiff, Wales, in 1884, and is 2,400 fathoms in length, or about two miles and 108 yards. It weighs twenty-one and one-half tons, and has nearly 100,000 fathoms of wire in its make-up.
