The World's Armies.

The armies of the world, or rather of civilized nations, Include 8,600,OIK) men. These men, and almost as many o:e who are required to wait upon them In some form or other, are con sumers and not producers of the world’s upply of food. Besides the loss of their lime and labor, they cost at least SI,OOO a year each, and that amounts to $3,600,■ioo.ooo. In proportion to population our army of 26,000 men Is by far ths smallest in the world.
