The Superintendent of the Consul makes public a bulletin In which are given statistics upon the subject ol asylums for the insane In the United States. The bulletin shows that the total number of Insane persons treated In both public and private Institution! during the year 1889 was 97,535, while during the year 1881 there were 56,201 treated, showing an increase in the nlni years of 41,330 or 73.53 per eent.
