Governor Hogg’s Fish Story.
Concerning the piscatory part of the expedition, us an angler, Governor Hogg grew enthusiastic. “I was sitting in the boat, and one day,” he said, “just inside the entrance to the pass, when I folt a nibble; I jerked the line gently, when I knew I had him. I began to haul in, und felt the line grow heavier. Then began a succession of heavy- rushes, and all grow still as the breast when the spirit hath flown. When tho end of the lino came to the surface I found a tanglo of fish. I had first hooked a snapper, the snapper had been seized by a terrapin, which was unable to free itsolf. The terrapin had been run through by a ewordfisk, which was fastened by his long blade, and a stingaroe had wrapped himself around the swordfish and gtung him to death. I suppose there must have been 300 pounds of meat on tho hook.” Asked if there was any one else .in the boat, the Governor replied that ho was alone.—[Fort Wortli Gazette.
