The way in which republican official rascals are dealt with i republican states is illustrated by the action of the republican senate of Pennsylvania in the ase of Treasurer Boyer and Auditor General McCamaat. Their official negligence and open disr gard of law resulted in the robbery of the Penns Ivania state treasur to the extent of hundreds of thousands cf dollars, charges were preferred against them. A 'eglslative investigation wasbegu. before the rece t election a nd dragged along until after the people of Pennsylvania had voted, Nov. 3, that they had preferred to be ruled by thieves. A good deal of very st ong evidence against Boyer and McCamant had been brought out and it was found impossible to establish even a plausible basis for their acquittal on the facts. So resort was had to flimsy technicalities, and after spending a month in pre ended investigation, having refused to consider the question of jurisdiction at the outset, the senate dec’ded by a strict party vote that it hid no jurisdiction. This action is taken in open defiance of » clear constitutional mandate. — Really, is there a viler, fouler thing on the face of the earth than Pennsylvania republicanism?— Indianapolis Sentinel.
