The Cordage Trust Advances Prices.

A further advance has been made by the National Cordage company, who on Saturday advanced the price of Manila rope three-fourths of a cent per pound, and sisal and New Zealand one cent per pound. This action is taken in view of the fact that they are securing control of the market and outside competition ceases to be an important factor. The tone of the market is decidedly strong and it is thought probable that further advances will follow.— The McKinley tariff increased the duty on pickles 30 per cent With this inducement to rbbbery on the statute book a combine of twenty-five companies in the West has been organized to get out of consumers ali that the traffic will bear.
