Cotton In Turkestan.

The experiment which was made some years ago, of raising cotton in Turkestan from American seed, has proven a phenomenal success. In 1884 there were 360,000 pounds of this cotton exported from the cqpntry.

The estimate of the present year’s crop is put-at 126,000,000 pounds. At this‘rate America will have to look out, as it will find a very formidable rival in the Asiatic country. It is stated that the Asiatic and Egyptian cotton is packed much neater, and more tightly compressed than the American, rendering it less liable to spontaneous or other causes of combustion, and for this reason is given a lower rate of insurance in transit.
