McKinley Prices.
In a recent speech at Lawrence, Masa, Governor Russell read a list of 122 articles of common use. the duties on which were increased by the McKinley tariff and the prices raised accordingly. On the whole, there is an advance of about 20 per cent, above the prices prevailing in September. 1890, before the McKinley tariff went Into effect. These lists were prepared for the Governor by one of the largest retail firms in Boston, and are thoroughly reliable. At the same time the cro kory combinations, after reducing wage-. also rai ed prices. It is strange that so many people express surprise that these things have happened. On the contrary, this is just what those who made the McKinley tariff wanted to bring about.
