Democratic Sentinel, Volume 15, Number 27, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 24 July 1891 — DON’T GO INTO SPASMS. [ARTICLE]
DON’T GO INTO SPASMS.
Our Republican neighbor should not go into over the alliance, the People’s Party movement, the Farmers’ pionic, or the aetiou of a committee of our business meu concerning the same.— Ther. are no doubt many members of the alliance who are or have been also members of the Republican party. If there are any such who have found out that they have boon hurt, traced the cause to republican legislation, and refuse longer to act with that party, it won’t do brother Marshall any good to go into spasms over the matter. They are intelligent, thii king, independent men, and will resent any attempt to interfere with or conti ol their judgment.
Don’t go into spasms over the fact that a committee of business men have interested themselvoß in semiring subscriptions to aid in making the Farmers’ picnic a big success. Looking at it from a busineß standpoint they are simply taking advantage of the opportunity and expect to reap as they sow. It was a good business move, and doserves commendation. So far as the “rock rooted” charao. cter of the Democracy of the members of the soliciting committee is concerned, that outs no figure, when the Republican has been the recipient of any favors they have had to bestow, to the exclusion of the Sentinel. “Rook rooted" democracy cuts no fi,>uro in connection with their duty in this affair.
Don’t go into spasms from fsar that National Lecturer AVillets, Senator Poffer and Indiana State President Thomas W. Force may tune their remarks in the iuterost of the People’s Party and denounce Democrats and Republicans.— Whatever they may say derogatory of the old parties need not be noco[ ted as fact—especially anything they may say in opposition to the Demooraoy. Don’t go into spasms!
